Spiritual Activities

We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. ~ Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

We have a slew of spiritual activities for the young and old alike, to rejuvenate and reinvigorate them, laying aside the daily rigors of everyday life.

Spiritual devotion is an activity that needs to be done round the clock, to guard against the vagaries and fallacies of human nature. We have various programmes and activities that celebrate the universality of the innate transcendental spirit.

  • Regular Daily Puja of Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna is conducted at the Universal Temple. The Ashram air fills up with a divine aura during the Arati service to Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna. Blessed are the souls who partake even a speck of the immense divine blessings that flow during the Arati service.

  • Celebrations of birthdays of Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Saradadevi, Swami Vivekananda, and other direct disciples of Sri Ramakrishna are done on a grand scale. This provides a perfect opportunity for all seekers to seek the blessings of these blessed souls who trudged on this earth to impart the eternal message of love and peace.
  • Celebrations of birthdays of Divine Incarnations & Spiritual luminaries, such as Sri Shankara (Shankara Jayanthi), Gauthama Buddha (Buddha Purnima), Bhagavan Krishna (Sri Krishna Janmasthami), Jesus Christ (Christmas) , Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu(Holi) and Bhagavan Rama (Sri Rama Navami) are conducted at the Ashram premises. These divine souls have left their mark in this world for the seekers to follow. This is a perfect occasion for earnest seekers to eulogize their teachings and imbibe the same in their earthly sojourn.
  • Popular festivals like Guru Purnima, Ganesha Chaturthi, Durga Puja, Kali Puja, Shivarathri are conducted in the Ashrama. The Ashram vicinity vibrates with divine grace on these festive occasions. Blessed are the souls who join the festivities and offer their devotions to the benign Gods and Goddesses.
  • Sri Rama Puja and Sri Rama Nama Sankirtana is done on a regular basis on Ekadashi days. Ekadashi is the eleventh lunar day of Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha of every month of the Hindu calendar. Ekadashi which falls every fortnight is considered a spiritually beneficial day. Hindu scriptures recommend observing a fast during Ekadashi.
  • Satsangs are done in Satsanga Kendras & devotees’ houses on invitation. Satsang literally means ‘Company of the “Highest Truth”’. Satsang typically involves listening to scriptures and devotional music rendered by a spiritually enlightened person, reflecting on their subtle meaning, discussing and assimilating their meaning, meditating on the source of these words, and bringing their meaning into one’s daily life. Satsangs in the modern age are a necessary aid to reflect the true meaning of life, and recollect basic human virtues, as extolled by the time tested scriptures, through which we can sail through the ups and downs of life.
  • Spiritual classes are conducted at the Ashram premises on Sundays and Wednesdays. The clutches of Maya which entangles us to cling on to the ways of this world, is indeed enormous. The mind and intellect needs to be sharpened periodically to wriggle out of this cosmic play of Maya. Listening to spiritual discourses by worthy souls is a perfect way to direct our mind and intellect to worthier goals in life.
  • Spiritual Retreats are held regularly at the Ashram premises. A conglomeration of like-minded souls, who seek to bask in spiritual atmosphere, is hard to seek in this modern age. Letting go the consternations of the daily humdrums of life, seeking solitude in a divine setting and being in the midst of illuminating souls is a wish that every stressed soul yearns for. The spiritual retreats conducted by the Ashram on a regular basis, has all the ingredients to cater to a spiritual seeker. Pranayama, Yoga, Spiritual discourses, bhajans and spiritual discussions are some of the items that define the spiritual retreat itinerary.
  • Spiritual discourses are conducted in different villages, towns and colleges of Kodagu and other parts in Karnataka as and when needed. In this modern age where technological marvels have revolutionized the way we live, spirituality sadly seems to be taking a back seat. Rampant materialism, with no spiritual foundation is bound to fall apart sooner than later. It is our duty to instill core spiritual values among the youth and old alike, to make this society a better place to live. To this effect, we conduct spiritual discourses on a regular basis, covering every strata of society.
